This is Dr Anne Merriman, the founder of Hospice Africa Uganda and the reason I have been here in Kampala for the last 7 weeks.
She is my Ugandan Mammy! And the same age as my own Mam – a young 88-years-old.
She set up Hospice Africa Uganda 30 years ago with a mission to spread palliative care throughout all of Africa.
To see the work of hospice and the impact on the lives of critically ill patients is really humbling.
I didn’t go on any patient visits this week. I took a little break and did some office based work instead.
It’s hard to believe that I will be back home in Ireland this day fortnight.
But plans already are in train to return in the summer.
Have a great weekend all.
